La temporada de premios sigue su camino y hoy conocimos a los nominados y nominadas a los premios BAFTA, uno de los galardones más prestigiosos del cine.
Estamos a días de conocer los candidatos al Oscar y se esperaba que los BAFTA esclarecieran un poco una temporada de premios algo extraña y, por supuesto, no fue así. La Academia Británica ya lleva un tiempo siguiendo su propio camino en las nominaciones y este año nuevamente dieron que hablar (especialmente en las categorías actorales), dejando fuera a varios favoritos.
Por el lado de los actores, el duelo principal Benedict Cumberbatch por “El Poder del Perro” (“The Power of the Dog”) vs. Will Smith “Rey Richard” (“King Richard”) sigue en pie y ambos intérpretes lograron la mención. Pero otro de los actores que parecía fijo sorprendió con su ausencia: Andrew Garfield por “Tick… Tick… BOOM!”
En el caso de las actrices es donde más sorpresas hubo ya que casi todas las aspirantes con posibilidades de ganar quedaron fuera: Nicole Kidman por “Being the Ricardos”, Olivia Colman por “La Hija Oscura” (“The Lost Daughter”) y Jessica Chastain por “Los Ojos de Tammy Faye” (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye”). Además, quien había comenzado esta temporada como la rival a batir Kristen Stewart por “Spencer”, también brilló por su ausencia. Sumado a que en el sindicato de actores tampoco consiguió la nominación, peligra fuertemente su presencia en los Oscars. Por el momento, la única que ha logrado colarse en todos los premios importantes hasta ahora es Lady Gaga por su rol de Patrizia Reggiani en “La Casa Gucci” (“House of Gucci”).
“Duna” (“Dune”) es la cinta más nominada de este año con un total de 11 candidaturas, incluyendo mejor película, pero quedando fuera en mejor dirección, apartado que también dio que hablar ya que grandes nombres como Steven Spielberg por “Amor sin Barreras” (“West Side Story”) y Kenneth Branagh por “Belfast” no consiguieron la mención.
