La Academia de Ciencias y Artes Cinematográficas (AMPAS) acaba de anunciar los nominados para la entrega número 94 de los Premios Oscar. El tan esperado anuncio se dio a través del canal oficial de YouTube y fue conducido por la actriz Tracee Ellis Ross y el actor y guionista Leslie Jordan.
Desde este año, después de cambios constantes en la categoría reina, son 10 las nominadas a mejor película. Recordemos que años atrás eran 5, luego pasó a 10, para más tarde no tener una cantidad fija, sino que podía variar entre 5 y 10, normalmente quedando 8 o 9.
Entre los films más nominados podemos encontrar a “El Poder del Perro” (“The Power of the Dog”) con 12 candidaturas y “Duna” (“Dune”) con 10, ambas consiguiendo la nominación a Mejor Película, pero esta última quedando fuera de Mejor Dirección.
Entre los “olvidos” podemos encontrar a Lady Gaga por “La Casa Gucci” (“House of Gucci”) en Mejor Actriz, Caitriona Balfe por “Belfast” en Mejor Actriz de Reparto y Denis Villeneuve por “Duna” (“Dune”) en Mejor Dirección, nombres que figuraron en casi todos los premios de la temporada, pero que finalmente no lograron llegar a los Oscars.
Entre las gratas menciones se destacan el film japonés “Drive My Car” que consigue la candidatura a Mejor Película, Dirección, Guion Adaptado y Película Internacional, si bien esto no es una sorpresa mayúscula ya que la cinta cosechó muchos premios importantes en lo que va del año, siempre es muy agradable ver que este tipo de propuestas no terminé únicamente en el apartado de film extranjero.
Otro de los casos foráneos es la película noruega “The Worst Person in the World” que ya tenía asegurada su nominación como Mejor Película Internacional, pero también se cuela en Mejor Guion Original siendo esto sí una gran sorpresa.
Por último, el documental danés “Flee” hace historia consiguiendo 3 nominaciones: Mejor Película Animada, Mejor Película Internacional y Mejor Documental, algo que jamás había sucedido.
La directora neozelandesa Jane Campion, ganadora del Oscar a Mejor Guion Original por “La Lección de Piano” (“The Piano”, 1993), también logra un hito, siendo la primera mujer en conseguir una segunda nominación en la categoría Mejor Dirección. A su vez, es la gran favorita a llevarse el premio en dicho apartado por su trabajo en “El Poder del Perro” (“The Power of the Dog”), lo que la convertiría en la tercera mujer en lograrlo tras Kathryn Bigelow y Chloé Zhao.
